College Major?

December 2nd, 2007 by

I am currently majoring in Biomedical Science, but I also want to do something in Computer Science. I am not sure if should minor in it or do a double major or even a dual degree. I also want to get done as soon as possible. I plan taking classes every summer so that would help me get done early, and it would give me a chance to take more classes on computer science. I do not know which is more beneficial minor, double major, or dual degree. (Taking a minor in computer science requires 19 hours and if i had a couple more classes i can get a double major and if i add a couple more i can get a dual degree) help please, i dont know what to do!

Why do college courses last so little?

December 2nd, 2007 by

A semester lasts about 3 months and still some professors finish the courses before. So actually they are like 2 months and 1/2. Although this may be ok for history, literature courses, etc.

Computer Science this is horrible. It is not enough time to learn how to program, provide internet security, or whatever, understand the concepts of a 300 page book, etc, etc. Plus, students take like 5 courses at a time, its not like its the only course taken. Do they expect people to actually learn like this? only those who already know the stuff by themselves, like High School hackers can actually do well.

what about the rest of us.

were just pursuing a degree, like it, but just think that time is not enough?

Computer Diagnosis One day Bill complained to his friend that his elbow really hurt.

friend suggested that he go to a computer at the drug store that can diagnose anything quicker and cheaper than a doctor. ''Simply put in a sample of your urine and the computer will diagnose your problem and tell you what you can do about it. It only costs $10.” Bill figured he had nothing to lose, so he filled a jar with a urine sample and went to the drug store. Finding the computer, he poured in the sample and deposited the $10. The computer started making some noise and various lights started flashing.

a brief pause out popped a small slip of paper on which was printed: “You have tennis elbow.

your arm in warm water.

heavy lifting. It will be better in two weeks.” Later that evening while thinking how amazing this new technology was and how it would change medical science forever, he began to wonder if this machine could be fooled. He mixed together some tap water, a stool sample from his dog and urine samples from his wife and daughter. To top it off, he masturbated into the concoction. He went back to the drug store, located the machine, poured in the sample and deposited the $10. The computer again made the usual noise and printed out the following message: “Your tap water is too hard.

a water softener.

dog has worms.

him vitamins.

daughter is using cocaine.

her in a rehabilitation clinic.

wife is pregnant with twin girls.

aren't yours.

a lawyer.

if you don't stop jerking off, your tennis elbow will never get better.”

Computer Science Database Systems 3?

November 30th, 2007 by

If a database contained a relation containing information about individual people (name, address, birthday, etc.) and another relation containing information about music composers (name, style, education level, etc.) how would you extend the dataabse's design to include links between each individual and his or her favorite composer?
