is this jus for windows based systems and or os's or can boxes running linux/unix distros also be compromised as well if not set up properly? But my comment for windows users... PATCH PATCH PATCH and UPDATE at least once a week. Also update anti virus. Hit me back if you are a knowledgeable user of linux. i currently run backtrack 3.0 for pen test and used to run red hat but dont like anymore. any suggestions would be cool. Peace man. Good vid

If you can't get windows to format the drive, and it has sometimes has not even appeared in windows, it seems highly likely that the drive is dying. I'd download some drive testing tools and test the drive.

Well, you didn't exactly give me a lot to go on, but assuming your d drive was a second physical HDD or CD-ROM, if it disappeared from Windows it probably failed and would need to be replaced. If you know how to check your BIOS settings to see if BIOS still sees it, that's what I'd check first. If BIOS can't see the HDD, it's one of these possibilities: 1) Bad HDD 2) Bad cable connecting to motherboard 3) disconnected power cable or motherboard cable 4) bad controller on motherboard
