Very true, and often played w/ Merl too! Those were some good days ;))) Best to ya!

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up, kiddo. And apologies to Stu. You can, perhaps, understand my mistake. At one time or another, John traded licks with just about every decent player in town.....

Great comment! In this case it isn't Merl, it's Stu Blank, a San Francisco musician. Merl's in the Dinosaurs tracks. Best to you :)))

Over four decades since the first time I saw/heard Cipollina and that unique sound STILL sends shivers up my aging spine. Crixt he was incredible. (Side note: QMS was the only band I never minded making my ears hurt.) Given the vintage of this track, is that Merl Saunders on organ?

John Cipollina was the most unique guitarist of my era; guess Im a Dinosaur too. By the way the Dog is back, just had my 2nd site pulled over sharing videos of musicians that have passed on to Rock the Heaven. Cant keep an old dong down.

i would take cipollina and duncan over anybody, but verlaine and lloyd from television were a pretty close second!

Actually, as I recall QMS had already reformed a year or two before John died, without him. I recall reading that he added the Bigsby to his customized SG, "because it looked so hip", but it became a big part of his sound.

simply THE most underrated rock guitarist ever...simply a genius, instantly recognizable sound, innovative, soulful and tasty playing. Just unbelievable, only few in history could have the same honors.

On My Top Ten Favorite Guitarist List For Sure! His passing was painful to family and fans.

SQUIRE JOHN CIPPOLINA... THE DEAN OF FREE -- FORM Marin Co., Calif. GUITAR!! LISTEN... The Extreme mellowness of the colourful Tremlo - coached PENTATONICS. His Superior, High -END usage of Early Fuzz- Wah, an Easily seen & Heard choice "CLEAN" rapid Attack on his finger picking, He Once ascribed his usage of the 'Tremlo Arm' (the Happy,Power Bar')as an aide to his 'Lazy' Left Hand. Too bad we lost such a Magnificant ..at age 41 ,in 1989! Q.M.S. May have reformed under his Leadership!
