I have too disagree with Dan Browns views on the death penalty, because although there are both good things and bad things about the death penalty, Dan Browns a dick

I disagree with the death penalty because no matter how horrible the criminal, we have no right to kill anyone. And death penalty would be letting them off the hook. Read 1984 by George Orwell, and compare that to the U.S. government. It's fucking scary.

Why do people in prison NEED to die? Is there even a reason for doing it? Yes, they do deserve it if they really did commit the crime, but staying in prison for the rest of your life is almost just as bad as getting killed. With the risk of killing innocents and with the extra expenses involved, I'd say it just isn't worth it.

but wouldnt life in prison be considered the death penalty?..even if the person is innocent and they get life in prison its the same as the death penalty!..There gonna die in jail anyway.

and i said a couple of posts ago that if you put them in solitary, with no tv, cut off all outside communication and conjugal visitation and abolish parole... then i'll be first in line to end capital punishment. then i think life in prison (with the provisions above) would be worse than death. my thoughts are with the victims... and the lack of humanity shown to them by their killer. if i'm wrong for thinking that way... then i'm happy to be wrong.

I disagree, mswift801. The criminals would know that sooner or later, the switch is going to be flipped no matter what, so why would they suffer thinking about it, since they know they can't escape it? You're right, after a while they would ask to die, just to get it over with. But dying is the easy way out, and that wouldn't be a punishment. The right punishment is for them to live with what they've done for the rest of their lives, imprisoned, hopeless, and alone.

a big problem in prisons now is tht they are getting overpopulated causing more riots and stuff like that. The Death Penalty Helps 'Unclog' The System and i use the word losely. But you make a very valid point

(continued) This gives them time to employ new scientific means, to prove their innocence. If they ARE innocent, much of the time-but not always-science will help clear them. In the mean time, how are we going to protect other prisoners & guards from psychopathic, murderous "lifers"? These people don't become angels when their put behind bars. Should we risk the lives of other people just to SAVE theirs? Isn't that a little counter-productive?! Something to think about huh?
