He ordained to honor Maha Ghosananda, Gandhi of Cambodia

When Maha Ghosananda, the Supreme Patriarch of Cambodian Buddhism was admitted to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in February 2007, Sakal Kim, Templenews TV director, told Maha Ghosananda and Ven. Dhammathero that he wanted to be ordained as a Buddhist monk to pay his deepest respect and honor to Maha Ghosananda when His Holiness feels better. He's been waiting patiently for Maha Ghosananda to return to the temple to ordain him, but that day never came until the end of Maha Ghosananda's Life. Kim finally became Bhikkhu infront of Maha Ghosananda's Holy Body.
